THE DAY WE WILL ALWAYS remember........................JULY 11,2009...........................so much experience took place at MTS davao..a lot of things happened...8 teams competed.....the host was not able to control the situation, the host wasn't able to implement the rules and regulations of their competition.........just a few insights and observations as to the outcome of the tournament...................... #1. it has been a common practice and knowledge as to the presence and visibility of members of the PNP or the military whenever an airsoft competition is conducted....with regards to this aspect, there were no police or military peacekeepers within the area of the competition...#2. as per the rules and and regulations posted by the host pertaining to the supposed conduct of the tournament, there was no specific guideline that bars any team from withdrawing from the competition and seeking for the full or partial reimbursement of the registration fee paid.REASON: 3 games were only played....here's the story...............SWAT GENSAN decided to discontinue from playing and withdraw from the tournament AFTER its third game to prevent further injuries that could be inflicted upon its team or any other team....SWAT GENSAN participants were manhandled by the opposing team (with the participation of members from other teams)during the third game. the officers of SWAT GENSAN made the said decision because it is but natural to secure the safety of its members and families who were present at the tournament... SWAT GENSAN sought for the reimbursement of its registration fee BUT sad to say, the request was denied...REASON: the 2 contending teams of the said third game were disqualified or DQ (as per the term used by the representative of the host).therefore, SWAT GENSAN, as per their reasoning is barred from seeking for the said reimbursement.... now allow me to scrutinize the rules of engagement.... when we say DQ,the common application and meaning of it says that a team is disqualified to secure a win or a point on the specific game played and contested. It does not mean PERPETUAL DISQUALIFICATION ON THE WHOLE DURATION OF THE TOURNAMENT..........#3. RULE 10.1 of the tournament rules and regulations stated that teams are required to "OBSERVE PROPER DECORUM AT ALL TIMES ..NO FIST FIGHT,VULGAR QUARREL, THRASH TALK, RUDE AND PROVOCATIVE REMARKS/GESTURES"..granting the host banked on this rule which gave them the power to "perpetually" disqualify SWAT GENSAN from the tournament, then why is it that the host did not disqualify the 2 teams which played the first or shall i say the inaugural game of the tournament??be informed that there was also "a fist fight" that took place during the said first game between the said two teams, said incident also runs counter as to the observation of the said "proper decorum rule"..................................................well if i may comment on this matter.....the fight that took place during the third game of SWAT GENSAN should not have happened as the opposing team of the said third game SHOULD have been another team,as 1 of the 2 teams of the first game of the tournament i am referring to was the SAME TEAM that "engaged" with SWAT GENSAN during its third game..said team should have been disqualified in the first place for its failure to comply with the RULE 10.1 of the tournament...the host 'disqualified' the said team only after the incident that occured against SWAT GENSAN.
WE ARE ALL AIRSOFTERS !!! i am not saying which team is at fault and which team is not.. ...we should be promoting camaraderie or friendship, not collect enemies!! the fights that took place were due to the adrenalin of the game.spirits and tensions were high..... i am not questioning the manner the Marshals handled the tournament as the marshal issue is already there since time immemorial (in fairness the Marshals did their job well yesterday )...i am also not angry with any body from any team that competed...in fact a lot of the participants are our friends even way back when we started airsoft in Gensan..some are even my fraternal brothers and some are my contemporaries in business and pleasure...i am sure the host did its best for the success of the tournament...they are also our friends in and out of airsoft...i am only disappointed with the manner the competition was handled especially on the strict application of the rules and regulations of the tournament..this was even aggravated by the fact that the president of SWAT GENSAN and the teams of ASG-DAVAO and TAGCORE were accused of destroying the image of airsoft..text messages were sent to different people and teams few hours ago pinpointing to the mentioned 3 teams as "nakakahiya sa nangyari kahapon"....it is quite unfair to issue such statement..question, what should have been the case should proper implementation of the rules was implemented ....pls help me answer the question...
to sum it up..........it is sad to say WE ARE ONLY HUMAN BEINGS ...AND HUMAN BEINGS COMMIT MISTAKES...another lesson we,all airsofters should learn to accept........
it should have been 2 wins-1 draw.............I salute SWAT GENSAN !!!!
TEAM TAGCORE: congratulations for winning the tournament!!!
