Davao City is celebrating its 75th Araw ng Dabaw Celebration 2012 with its theme “Davao : Life is Here”. In line with this celebration, Davao City will hold a Poetry Composition Contest on Feb 8, 2012 , Wednesday at DCRC (Almendras Gym). Contestants will paint to the theme of “Davao : Life is Here!”
Here are the Details for this competition:
ON THE SPOT PAINTING CONTEST
I. Contest Rules and Mechanics
The 75th Araw ng Dabaw ON THE SPOT PAINTING CONTEST is open to all Dabawenyo painters. There are two (2) categories in this competition:
Youth Category Painters under 18 years old
Senior Category Painters from 18 years and older
A participant is allowed only one entry. Entries made by a group will not be accepted.
The entry may either be oil, acrylic on canvas, or watercolor paper. The sizes of the entry should be 18’’x 24’’ or 24’’x 18’’. Participants must bring their own materials to DCRC on the date of competition.
Participants must render their painting from the Davao tourism campaign: “Davao: Life is here!”. Non-figurative abstract paintings will not be accepted.
All entries must have a corresponding registration form filled up by the artist with the following info: ARTIST’’S NAME, ADDRESS, CONTACT NUMBERS, ENTRY TITLE, MEDIUM. Entries with incomplete information will not be accepted.
Registration will start at exactly 8:00 AM.
The competition proper is from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM for Youth Category and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM for Senior Category.
The decision of the Board of judges is deemed final.
All entries shall become the property of the Duaw Davao Festivals Foundation, Inc.
I. The criteria for judging are as follows:
Relevance to the theme 40%
Creativity and Originality 20%
Visual Impact 20%
Technique 20%
TOTAL 100%
The top 5 entries will be reproduced and will be showcased at SM City Davao, Abreeza, Gaisano Mall and NCCC Mall from February 10 to March 31.
Announcement and awarding of winners will be held on March 13 during the Mayor & Vice Mayor’s Appreciation Program. (Venue to be advised)
II. Winners will receive the following:
Youth category
1st Prize 10,000 plus a trophy
2nd Prize 5,000 plus a trophy
3rd Prize 3,000 plus a trophy
Consolation prize (5) 1,500 each
Senior category
1st Prize 15,000 plus a trophy
2nd Prize 10,000 plus a trophy
3rd Prize 5,000 plus a trophy
Consolation prize (5) 2,500 each
The Duaw Davao Festivals Foundation & the City Government of Davao or any of the institutions/agencies involved in the implementation of the On-the-Spot Painting Contest shall not be held liable for any damage to the artwork as a result of the competition and exhibition, or the failure of the participant to follow the above rules and regulations.
