Flat gears are noiser but eaiser to install and less sensitive to shimming. Helical gears are quieter but much harder to shim PROPERLY.
You can shim flat gears and have a little play in the gears with no ill effects at all. However, helical gears have to be shimmed with ZERO tolerance on either side of EACH gear. At some point- you can't even use standard shims... you have to make your own modified shims by sanding them to make them slightly thinner...
FLAT gears can be replaced with other flat gears easily. Example- na bungi ang isang STU FLAT gear mo- you can use CA or even XYT gears as replacement- babago nga lang ang ratio(from STU to TU) pero magagamit mo pa rin sya.
Helical gears are harder to find piece-meal. Kung mabungi ang isa- good luck in finding a replacement.
BOth have the same gear ratio and pulling ability. Mas matibay lang daw ang HELICAL due to the nature of helical type gears- more gear teeth are in contact at any givent time due to the slanting teeth.

so when you say flat gears you mean the stock gears.. those are the stock gears??
when are you suppose to use helical gears?
set-up ko kasi ngayon sir SP130 on stock TM gears.. tapos mabilis maubos 1700mah ko na batt. sabi nila mag helical daw kasi easy on the batt ang helical gears.
tapos anong mas pang torque and mas pang speed? helical or flat?

Helical and flat have the same torque and speed if they're both SUPER TORQUE UP GEARS. Helical and FLAT only refer to the type of gear teeth in use but not the actual drive ratio. You have several drive ratios in AEG gears:
High speed- popular in japan Standard- stock in TM/CA/SRC/Well and most other AEGs Torque Up(Systema/CA), Double Torque(prometheus) Super Torque UP(Systema/CA), Triple Torque(prometheus) Ultra Torque(Systema) Max Torque(Prometheus) Infinite Torque(Systema) (Di ko na sinali yung mga Phoenix gears dahil di ko memorize).
You can have any of these gear ratios in either FLAT or HELICAL construction- though most of the ultra, max and infinite torque gears are usualy helical. Even Standard speed gears are available in helical construciton(intruder shop) but that doesn't mean they can pull stiffer springs- they're still standard ratio.
Back to your questions:
-Stock gears are FLAT Gers
- you may use helical gears for more strenght and quieter performance- but you sacrifice ease of instalation and flexibility of replacements.
-I suggest you upgrade to Super Torque Up gears. Either Helical or Flat to extend your battery life.
-madalas kasi, kapag SUPER TORQUE UP GEARS ang tinutukoy ng mga airsofters- "HELICAL" ang tawag nila... NOT all STUs are HELICAL and not all HELICALS are STUs...

Save up for the STU helicals? yes! eto ang gamit ko, downsize lang nga is pag meron isang gear napudpud... hirap maka hanap ng replacement... Kung nag alanganin ka sa STU helicals, get the STU FLATS instead..

nalilito na ako!! para sa set-up ko.. ano ba mas ok? gusto ko sana same or higher and ROF ko pero masmagtagal ang 1700mah ko na batt.. helical or flat? (balik nanaman sa dating tanong)

ROF will suffer with a higher ratio gearset-no other way around it. You'll have to increase your battery voltage to gain back the ROF that you loose- though you will risk burning your motor and trigger contacts prematurely.
Helical vs flat? Reread my posts... it's all there... it's your choice realy... good luck.

mag stu flats ka na lang sir. meron akong nabasa somewhere in this forum or sa acmgames na recommended ang flats if you want to achieve higher rof kasi mas maikli ang resistance ng mga gears while ang helical is for torque kasi sakto ang kagat ng mga gears kung umiikot. (tama b un ?!?)

(tama b un ?!?) yup. flats have a higher ROF than helicals. kahit na pareho sila ng stated torque. helical gears also gives lesser stress to ur motor.
